SLAY THEM ALL!!

Senseless slaughter, "holy handgun", and a desert scenario. I lol'd, so I voted 2.

The game is quite terrible, though. There seems to be no end to it and it looks like yet another simple "first game" assignment from a class at school. I thought they were nostalgic at first, but now I'm less amused by seeing so many...
Anyhow, games need to have a goal and rules to be games. In this case, the goal should be to kill a certain number or survive. The rules would be a time limit, special attacks, allowing enemies to attack, etc. Remember to ask yourself, "Is this worth playing? If someone else made it, would I play it?" If the answer is no, then try to change it or add something interesting.

Of course, it's just your first game, and you're obviously just learning this stuff. Keep at it and you'll get better.

Haha, the fact is, it's not for school. I'm just making a game to practice my flash skills and thought I would submit it and see what happened, you know try and get some help maybe? It seems like I've gotten plenty of ideas in response, but not much help in the area of actionscript... If you or anyone else could be so kind as to pm me where I could find help areas for such things then I would be glad to spend more time improving this game to the max making it the next "Storm the house"

About as useful as the other

I think it was good how you explained how the breast connects to the shoulder area. Still lots of spelling errors and I don't think you really have a good grasp on drawings hands. The results weren't bad here, but I don't think they turned out the way you wanted them to.
The head shape here looked pretty masculine due to the jaw shape being the same as the male's.
This tutorial should give people a fairly decent starting point, and some of the jokes were funny.

JTmovie responds:

sorry, its honestly difficult to draw on the computer for the most part and plus Im doing a tutorial so instead of just drawing straight up, im drawing one line at a time which makes me loose my flow.

yeah but hopefully people get an understanding on how to draw things roughly for the most part, thats what I was aiming for

Not horrible

You've got spelling errors and other problems, but this tutorial should help people get a decent end result.

"TIP: The length of the upper leg is the same as the length of the knee down to the foot"
Then you've got two measurements each labelled "3 feet", but the two measurements were clearly different in size, and you made the thigh have the shorter end when the feet weren't even shown to give the lower leg its "3 feet". Made me laugh. Despite messing up there, I think that's a pretty good general rule, though.

On the side view head, I don't think your "bend for forehead" really makes sense... I think it would be more appropriate to call it the brow, or just to put a little indent around the eye.

I don't think you've quite got the hang of hands...

Not a great tutorial, but not a bad one, either. It covers quite a bit, though not as in-depth as I would prefer. You forgot to include a part for drawing feet.

JTmovie responds:

thanks for the comment.

The feet are up now. I forgot to add a button to them :P so if your intertested...

You are insane

I got to 35. It took a couple tries to get the hang of it, then I was starting to feel a bit sick around 20. Making us click a button and then quickly get to the arrow keys... This game is terrible and you are terrible... but it made me laugh.

Originality

Try to do something more original. I've literally been seeing dozens of games exactly like this lately, and I was assigned to do the same thing in Flash when I was in high school.
The game also lasts forever with no real reward or purpose at the end. Like anyone, you're probably proud of completing your first game, but try to think about what kind of game YOU would play. Would you rather click balloons for a minute with no sound effects, increased difficulty, or any real challenge, only attempting to get your score higher -or- would you rather play a game with power ups, enemies, multiple levels that bring new challenges, and other such things? Take a look at your favourite games and analyze the points you like best, then think about how you could make something enjoyable.

Best review ever for an aspiring flash artist. Thank you for your time (even though it was probably a rant) it's gonna help in the future.

Average

We made things a lot like this in a certain high school class where we learned the bare basics about Flash.
As for the game, the timer lasts kinda long for the game to be amusing. My final score was 70 the first time, 42 with the sped up timer the second time.

The biggest problem is that this can't really be called a game - there's no way to win or lose, not even a little message at the end that changes depending on your score. Clicking grey blobs isn't exactly too exciting either. Try to think of a better concept for a game and then work your way towards that goal by learning about the actionscript you think you'll need to know.

Stratium responds:

My best is 73, thanks for not rating it a 0. I do agree its worth a 2.

You know there are a lot of old games where your just trying to get the highest score possible. This is a game, bad as it is, its a game.

My comments

First off, this definitely needs a preloader. Newgrounds has some preloaders available for download, so you should have at least grabbed one of those... it's annoying to have a blank screen while the game loads; it makes people think it isn't even loading.

Next... I liked how you had "ARMOR" written with the blocks, and the intro things were cool too. As for the game itself, it was OK... not great though. It felt like I had deja vu... and those little green dots that kept bouncing off of me confused me. Also, the text at the top-left corner of the screen was too small and unnoticeable. It took me a while to notice that one of the numbers was how much armour I had left.

Pressing one button doesn't exactly make an exciting game... This game isn't awful or anything, but I didn't find it too fun.

rrx88 responds:

Actually, there is a preloader. But somehow the audio stops it from showing when it preloads and I have no idea why :/ Really need to check that out until my next game :P
Thanks for the comments. I like when someone actually writes what he thinks and not something stupid like "How do i play" or "this suxx".
Thank you.

Good enough

You should complete this, it's pretty decent. The shotgun Mario used looked pretty cheap though and didn't quite fit in... you should find a gun sprite from some game or make it more detailed.

That music sounded familiar... I'm probably wrong, but is it from Deja Vu?

flamingoflapjack responds:

Deja Vu all the way.

I'm not sure how this one passed judgement...

No offense, but you could use a LOT of work in the actionscript deptartment. You'll find it very difficult to make a game using mostly buttons (as I call them, "button games"). The graphics were OKish... and... well, this was more of a movie than a game...

jscdragon responds:

there is actually keyboard movement if you play further

I have webcomics on my website.
